Job Description

Eventus Finance are seeking a Finance Manager to join the management team of a successful Law firm in Barnsley. This role is a permanent position and ideally will be full-time, but with some flexibility. This role would suit a Finance Manager with previous legal finance experience looking to expand their role into the operational side of the Practice.

Role responsibilities

The incoming Finance Manager will be responsible for managing the operation of the Practice, primarily in the areas of finance, HR, Quality and Legal Aid, IT and General Management including administration. Specific responsibilities include:

* Responsibility for maintaining a compliant Legal Practice and as the firm’s COFA to continue compliance with all agencies including the SRA, Law Society, Legal Aid Agency, HM Revenue & Customs etc.

* The ability to work collaboratively with the firms existing Compliance Officer and Legal Cashier to uphold professional standards and remain compliant with their wider obligations. They pride themselves on exceeding the Lexcel Practice Management Standards and the need to retain this is paramount.

* Taking responsibility for the renewal of annual Practising Certificates and Professional Indemnity Insurance is essential, along with the analysis of quarterly VAT returns and internal financial reviews.

* Negotiating, reviewing and renewing contracts with suppliers and insurers, recruitment responsibilities, employee development, maintaining appropriate records, and ensuring business continuity.

Person specification

Applications are sought from experienced Finance Managers looking to expand their roles and manage across multiple disciplines. Ideally, you will have experienced gained within another law firm, a further bonus would be experience of Legal Aid. This is not essential however, and applications are encouraged from applicants with experience in a similar role in another professional, regulated organisation.

It is essential you have strong organisation, business and systems experience. Finance experience is essential, ideally used to preparation and analysis of annual budgets and presenting management information to the board. You will be degree educated, business or finance preferred.
