Head of Media
When registering to this job board you will be redirected to the online application form. Please ensure that this is completed in full in order that your application can be reviewed.
Permanent, Full-time role at 35 hours per week
ActionAid is an international charity that works with women and girls living in poverty.
Our dedicated local staff are ending violence against women and girls and helping change lives, for good. We won’t stop until women and girls are out of danger, out of poverty and on track to create the future they want.
This is a great role in a high performing, award winning team. It combines opportunities to influence the news agenda on multiple issues, to tell amazing stories about the people we work with and also to create interesting and engaging public activations.
When it comes to emergencies, you will support us in telling the stories of how ActionAid is making a difference on behalf of and with our federation members.
You will have responsibility for managing celebrities and influencers and for helping ActionAid UK to become the go to voice on women and girls in development.
For our Head of Media, we are looking for someone with strong knowledge and demonstrable engagement in current affairs. Ideally, we are seeking candidates with previous experience of working within international development on women’s rights issues, but this is not essential.
We are keen to receive applications from those with good analytical skills and experience of identifying and tracking media trends, horizon planning and using insights to inform future planning and activity.
It is important that our Head of Media has proven team management skills, along with the creativity to lead ambitious projects.
The ability to thrive in a complex matrix environment, with a focus on agile project working and the ability to influence positively without formal line authority, is also essential.
We are keen to receive applications from those with good analytical skills and experience of identifying and tracking media trends, horizon planning, using insights to inform future planning and activity.
If you have these skills and experience, along with experience of developing high impact media strategies, this may be the role for you.
ActionAid UK are committed to anti-racism and decolonisation and intend to focus on these through our work in coming years. The candidate will need to demonstrate awareness, knowledge and understanding of these terms and how this commitment will influence how they approach their day-to-day work as Head of Media as well as planning and executing strategic communications activities. This will be asked about in the interview.
ActionAid is committed to supporting flexible working. If you would like to discuss flexible working options, including the possibility of a job share for this role, there will be space to do so during the interview process.
We are committed to continually improving the diversity of our workforce and therefore encourage applications from people of colour, the LGBTQI+ community, the trans community, and those with a disability
