Polytec are looking for a dynamic manager with a background in manufacturing to take on the Head of Production role for our Saffron Walden based client. This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for managing and developing the Production Team.

Responsibilities:

* Manage Production personnel
* Recruit, retain and adequately reward staff to optimise performance
* Effectively manage resources in line with forecast demand, to deliver product on time, within cost and to the correct quality levels
* Co-ordinate Supply Chain demand and Production scheduling
* Improve productivity through Lean, 5S, 6 Sigma, Kaizen and the use of tooling, jigs and automation
* Lead and support a culture of continuous improvement
* Ensure equipment and facilities are suitable for current and future demand
* Develop, implement, track and report on KPI's
* Manage Production budgets and forecasting
* Assist with the successful transition of products from development to Production
* Implement, maintain and monitor Production quality control systems

Requirements:

* At least 10 years' production management experience
* Strong people management and leadership skills
* Proven track record of performance evaluation, development, capability and engaging teams
* Degree or equivalent level in a manufacturing or technical discipline
* Solid understanding of cost analysis, financial productivity and the importance of direct cost management
* Good understanding and knowledge of continuous improvement techniques
* Understanding of Quality systems in a manufacturing environment
* Transition of products from RandD to production
* IT literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
