Our client based in Guildford is recruiting for a Java Software Engineer to join their team.

As a successful candidate you’ll work alongside the System Engineer and other team members to deliver the required ground software for multiple missions. You will exercise the full software development lifecycle within an Agile environment:

Requirements capture
Design
Implementation
Unit, integration and system testing
Bug tracking and version control
Peer reviews (including code reviews)
User documentation
Support for satellite commissioning and in-orbit operations
Scrum ceremony attendance and support to the Delivery Manager

A good Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Computing, or similar subject.
Essential Java8+ skills including databases (MySQL or similar)
Desirable: database migration, Hibernate, Spring or Spring Boot frameworks or similar, Java server environments like Apache Tomcat or similar
High degree of organisation, planning, self-motivation, and initiative
Good team working skills, together with the ability to interface with others at all levels
Results orientated with a strong drive to deliver
Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
Ability to work simultaneously on a variety of projects
Decision making and creative problem- solving skills
Ability to multi-task and deliver both immediate and longer term tasks
Proven ability to deliver solutions under pressure and to tight timescales
Able to demonstrate company mindsets and behaviours; Be accountable, Drive & delivery, communicate effectively, Self-manage effectively, Work as one team
