Job Description

Our client is looking for a Paralegal to join their friendly private client team in Harpenden. The role is to support the fee earners by providing competent, efficient assistance through the completion of legal and administration duties.

Duties and responsibilities

Dealing with general client enquiries

Opening and managing files throughout the transaction

Preparation of forms, documents, emails and letters

Legal Research

Progressing probate files

Assisting with estate accounts

Regular contact with clients and third parties both on the telephone and face to face

Ensuring key dates are met

Diary management

Ensure the Wills/Deeds/LPA databases are updated at all times

Assist the fee earners to ensure Matter Lists are up to date

Assistance with financial management of fee earner’s caseload, including debt recovery

Telephone chasing

Filing and post

Copying and scanning

Closing files

Make full use of the Case Management System, Outlook, Word and other computer programs as appropriate

To maintain and promote the good image and reputation of the firm

To establish, maintain and enhance team-working with colleagues

Encourage new clients to the firm

The appropriate candidate will have the following skills and attributes:

* Previous experience working within Private Client is preferred

* Understanding of Law

* A sound knowledge of legal procedures specific to Private Client to include completion of forms

* Confident using case management systems and a good working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite

* Excellent IT skills

* Adaptability and flexibility

* Organisation and prioritisation

* Professional telephone manner and good people skills

* High levels of accuracy and attention to detail

* An empathetic and caring approach

* Excellent communication, ability to converse with a diverse range of people at all levels

* A collaborative team player

* Honesty, integrity and reliability

* Conscientious and methodical

* Self-motivated, proactive and forward thinking

* Steadiness under pressure
