Job Description

Sue Ross Recruitment are working with a well-established manufacturer and steel stockholder in the recruitment of a Sales Estimator. The main purpose of the role is to deal with customer quotations, sales orders and provide administrative support. This is a broad ranging role, where experience of the steel industry is highly advantageous, and experience of working in the engineering sector is essential.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Customer Service and Quoting

* Ensure a high level of service is maintained in all dealings with customers both verbally and electronically.

* Deal with customer enquiries received by telephone and e-mail.

* Interpret customer requirements from engineering drawings, sketches, and written/verbal descriptions.

* Calculate the price for individual customer requirements, taking into account the material costs and all the manufacturing processes involved.

* Prepare and send quotations for customers using company computer systems to ensure full compliance with quality systems and terms and conditions of sale.

* Follow up all quotations sent to customers in verbal and email communications.

* Update all quotation statuses using company computer systems.

* Agree delivery times with production team to meet customer order requirements.

* Reply to customer quality questionnaires with accurate information and the relevant certifications and policies.

Communication

* Communicate professionally and accurately with customers, Suppliers, and team members across all business functions.

* Use accurate written, verbal, or electronic communication methods.

* Ensure that all communications contain clear information or instruction across all business functions.

Sales Administration / Quality / Stock Management

* Keep all filing for sales order processing up to date ensuring all paperwork is fully compliant with quality requirements.

* Check and file all the paperwork to ensure quality compliance for goods out and goods in.

* Add stock and test certificates accurately to the company computer systems.

* Attend and present sales information in Sales meetings.

Purchasing

* Obtain prices for raw material and sub-contracting services where required.

* Place orders for any material or subcontract requirements.

Transport

* Assist with the transport process to ensure on time in full deliveries.

* Book correct transport using external services that suit the load requirements i.e., load size, quantity, and weight.

* Monitor progress of jobs using production planning software to ensure items are ready for collection/delivery deadlines.

* Monitor transport cost on a job by job basis and log transport cost and transport provider on relevant job using computer systems.

* Carriage charge – Ensure transport costs are exceeded by charges made to customer.

Business Promotion – Including Telephone Calls, Email and Social Media platforms.

* Work with the marketing department to gather information on customers such as, but not limited to – Product requirements, Buyer’s name, decision maker’s name, annual spend, order frequency and any upcoming projects.

* Log the details on the ERP system or customer contact sheet – Details of all calls and/or emails made to new and existing customers.
