Job Description

The Opportunity:

As Systems Management Engineer, you will primarily work within the Digital Services team, as part of an established System Management team responsible for their systems and platforms, such as Azure Virtual Desktop, Application deployment, System integration and Microsoft 365 administration duties.

Some of the key responsibilities for this successful individual would be but no limited to:

* To ensure the Digital Services Department meets its Service Level Agreement requirements

* Attend Training & Development events and keep up-to-date with new technologies as appropriate to the role

* To support the System Management Team Leader to ensure all new services undergo IT Testing and Integration framework

* Ensure all configuration changes within the Network & Comms Estate and supporting processes are fully tested and documented.

* Test and Integrate Services to ensure that services meet the requirements of the customer and can be released to Live in a controlled manner.

* Provide 3rd Line Incident and Problem Management support to IT Services

* Ensure all Testing and Operational Support documentation is accepted by Ops prior to Go Live.

* Participate in the Major Incident Process response.

* Deputise for the System Management Team Leader as required by the IT Manager

* Work to implement and maintain highest industry standards and help to achieve necessary accreditations such as Cyber Essentials +

* Assist with the developing of bespoke applications where there is a systems gap and a business need is identified

* Assist with the administering and maintaining the security suite for the site and all systems including M365 and ensuring alerts and warnings are correctly actioned

* Provide proactive maintenance to all key systems, ensuring specifically that they are patched and updated on a recorded regular schedule. This also includes ensuring daily checks are performed on key systems to increase uptime for the end-user

* Actively monitor the systems to ensure that optimum performance is available to the end-users and react appropriately to associated warnings and alerts. This includes during non-standard hours in the event of service failure

* Administer and configure the image creation process, ensuring that it is up-to-date, patched, contains the relevant software, and is reviewed regularly to ensure it is fit for purpose

* Administer M365 in relation to the College tenant configuration. This includes SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams and OneNote

* Administer and maintain the compliance and governance module within M365, adhering, where reasonably practicable, to recommended actions

The Candidate:

The successful Systems Management Engineer will be/have:

* ITIL v3 Foundation or above – Desirable

* 2 years’ experience working in an equivalent IT role is important

* Providing 2nd line support to incidents and requests logged via a ITSM ticketing system

* Providing administrative support across an Office 365 platform

* Experience of working within an IT Department providing service to a variety of customer areas

* Managing and administrating Microsoft 365 tenant including Platform as a Service (PaaS) would be great

* Experience of Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop is desirable

* Administration of SCCM to provide OS imaging and application packaging Understanding of the requirements of Cyber Essentials +

* To have excellent written and oral communication skills

* To have excellent interpersonal, team working and customer service skills

* Attention to detail

* Ability to organise and prioritise work
