Highly regarded trade union based in Manchester is seeking an Employment Legal Advisor on a full-time, 1-year fixed term contract.

Joining the wider legal services department, this is a unique opportunity for a solicitor or experienced paralegal to utilise their skills and knowledge of employment and industrial law. You will provide key legal representation to clients including Employment Tribunal cases, possessing outstanding communication skills.

Responsibilities

Providing legal advice to members, representatives and other clients

Employment and industrial casework 

Representing at tribunals

Conducting advocacy

Presenting internal briefings

Preparing reports

Using case management systems

Data protection

Conducting legal research

The Candidate

Strong technical knowledge of employment and industrial law

A minimum of 1 years experience of working in employment law so legal advice is essential

Qualified solicitors are preferred, but paralegals will also be considered

Outstanding communication skills

Flexible – traveling and unsocial working hours may be required

IT literate

Innovative, enthusiastic and adaptable

Excellent attention to detail

Works well within a team as well as on own initiative

Good knowledge of data protection and confidentiality matters
